Page title per WCAG 2.4.2

The content of <title> is the first thing screen readers read out on load, and it appears in the browser tab and in search results. Every page needs its own, meaningful title.

Common mistakes

The same title on all subpages (“Home page” or just the company name), an empty title, or the page's purpose right at the end, behind the brand name.

How to do it right

Structure: “Page topic – Section – Brand”. The most important first. On form steps or errors, include the state in the title.

How a11yglass helps

The free scan checks the delivered HTML and CSS for automatically recognisable WCAG breaches, and names per finding the success criterion and a concrete step. It finds roughly 20–35% of issues and does not replace a full assessment.
